Have a lot of digital books?  Wish you could read them in the car or on the go?  Don't mind alex's lovable robo voice?  I have just the thing for you.

I made an automator script that will convert your PDF's into spoken audio format.  You can download my PDF to audio app here.  To use simply drag your pdf onto the icon and wait.  Depending on the size of your PDF document it can take some time so be patient.  You will receive a growl notice when the conversion is complete.

Update: I made another version that simply takes any text you feed it and converts it to an m4a file.  You can download it here.

I get the following error when I try to use your app:

The action "Encode to MPEG Audio" could not be loaded because it could not be located.

Hmm. I'll have to look into that. I made it in lion. Maybe its not backwards compatible with older versions of OSX.

  3. Ayham says:

I got Lion and tried it, but got an error too:

"The action “Show Growl Notification” encountered an error.
Check the actionʼs properties and try running the workflow again."

Would like to know if it's resolved and also if it's made for other text format files too.

    Good luck

I can't reproduce the error. Make sure you have growl installed. I also made another version that I think will meet the needs you described.
